Today, the Sudanese Council of Ministers held the first meeting of the Supreme Committee to follow up the file of the Renaissance Renaissance Dam, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk, in the presence of members of the Committee of Ministers of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Irrigation and Water Resources, the Director General of the General Intelligence Service and the Director General of the Intelligence Authority.

The meeting reviewed Sudan's negotiating position during all previous stages, ending with the current round under the auspices of the African Union.

The meeting discussed the step of unilateral filling by Ethiopia and its impact on Sudan and on the path of future negotiations.

The meeting secured Sudan’s request to postpone the negotiations for a week to start the third Monday of August in order to complete the internal consultation on this important file. The meeting also secured the continuation of negotiations to reach a satisfactory agreement binding on all parties.
