Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis revealed that global superstar Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have become official citizens of Greece.

The Prime Minister shared a photo gathered with his wife Mariva Grabovsky, with Hanks, 64, and Wilson, 63, and the two actors were seen carrying their new Greek passports, as Mitsotakis said that both Hanks and Wilson are "Greek citizens and we are proud of that."

Last year, Greek President Procopus Pavlopoulos signed an honorary naturalization arrangement that would allow American actor Tom Hanks, 63, to obtain Greek citizenship, the President's Office said to the Associated Press last Friday.

Hanks used to spend his summer vacation on the Greek island of Antiparos with his actress and producer wife Rita Wilson, who is of Bulgarian and Greek descent, and they often post pictures on their social media outings in their charming Greek regions.

Under Greek law, honorary citizenship is granted to people who "provide exceptional services, or that granting them citizenship is in the public interest."
